Directory Services
Directory services : the main registration unit of WSDIR is called the Directory Service. It registers both Web Service Descriptions and Directory Descriptions. All the registration entries are expressed in FIPA-SLO. This allows multiple semantic Service Descriptions to be used within WSDIR. OWL-S is one example of it. It is also the Directory Service that serves the 5 operations. They can be requested by third party systems or by other Directory Services. Directory : directories represent virtual clusters for organizing Directory Services and Services registration. A directory can be stored in one or many Directory Service. Thus, a client can seamlessly get information from a directory in which the information is spread out accross several Directory Service. Two types of Directory exist : Domain Directories are content specific, i.e : they contain functional Services Descriptions. Network Directories are network specific, i.e : they contain Directory descriptions that create part of the network topology of Directory Services.
