ORGANIZING LABS

H2 Robot Category

In the H2 Robot Category of the EPFL SmartRob Contest students compete with completely autonomous mobile robots moving on the ground (wheeled) and achieving a given tasks with the use of a minimal amount of energy provided in the form of Hydrogen. H2 is exploited by the use of fuel cells.

The competitions emphasize a smart combination of sensors, actuators, computational power, power consumption and strategy. We encourage students to properly design their systems, getting the best our of the available technology.

The program is open to student teams from all Swiss universities and technical schools, prior experience in mobile robotics is not required.

The challenge 2009: Ball management...

Like last year, the robots have to perform a task while minimizing the energy consumption. The energy is stored in the form of H2 gaz.
The task is to move balls throw holes in the middle arena walls to get points. The holes are initially blocked by balloons that the robots have to pop to free the hole.

Rules

Here you can get the last version (1.4) of the 2009 official rules.

Pictures

Pictures of last year's contest are available at médiathèque: 2006, 2007, 2008.

In 2006 the environment was the same but the rules were based on 'simple' color detection and some strategy to send negative points to the other robot.
