Research at the Laboratory of Nanostructures in Matrices (LNM)

Condensed Gas Matrix project

In this very fundamental oriented project, we want to understand the evolution of the electronic structure of small metal cluster with each additional atoms.

We are interested in the absorption and in the fluorescence/luminescence properties of such objects.

Solid Matrix project

Here we produced cluster in the gas phase, we have the possibility to tune their size and subsequently deposit them together with a matrix material such as a dielectric or an other metal to produce cluster assembled materials.

We investigate the physical properties of these materials with various techniques (SQUID magnetometry, transport measurements, XPS, TEM, optical spectroscopy, ..).

Funding

Partial financial support comes from the Swiss National Science Foundation.
